Greenhouse Gas Analyses
TSS has been collaborating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Forest Service to create favorable market incentives to reduce hazardous fuels and to healthfully manage forestlands. By reducing hazardous fuels and improving forest health, the long-term capacity for forestlands to sequester carbon and reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHG) can be enhanced. Our interdisciplinary staff is involved in a variety of scientific studies, both as the principal investigator and technical consultants, aimed at quantifying the GHG reductions resulting from fuels management treatments. Our consultants perform analyses of GHG intensity targets, underlying indicators, rationales, real-world applications, and implementation issues. In addition, TSS can evaluate the GHG emissions characteristics of emerging technologies for its clients, including the economics and emission reduction opportunities of renewable electricity generation processes and co-generation.
