Forest Health and Ecology Studies
Forest health is a multidisciplinary and collaborative field of study that involves the understanding, monitoring, and conservation of the world's forest resources. A solid foundation in forest health requires expertise in many disciplines including, but not limited to, plant pathology, entomology, ecology, dendrology, mycology, wildlife and fisheries biology, silviculture, and forest management. TSS has provided expertise in these areas for decades through its complete suite of forestry services and ecological studies. Because forest health is influenced by both natural disturbance agents and human activities (e.g., fire suppression, introduction of alien pests, and air pollution), it is critical to have a thorough understanding of these influences. TSS forestry staff has the skill sets and knowledge necessary to integrate their potential impacts in a forest management plan, regardless of whether the client’s objectives include timber production, wildlife conservation, or wilderness management. In the field of forest ecology, TSS has adopted an integrative approach, embracing the concept of ecosystem management. With the continued sensitivity and widespread adoption of the public to concepts like ecosystem management and climate change mitigation, TSS Consultants will continue to conduct comprehensive scientific studies with a level of rigor and knowledge that allows clients to make informed decisions about ecological issues.
