Project Title: Feasibility Review of a Biomass Fired Thermal Energy System
Client: North Cal-Neva Resource Conservation and Development Council
Location: Alturas, California
TSS performed feasibility review for the installation of a biomass fired thermal energy system at an elementary and middle school campus in Alturas California. The scope of this review was intended to allow the Modoc Joint Unified School District to better understand the availability and cost of woody biomass fuels, make an initial equipment vendor selection, and secure an estimated cost of equipment associated with a woody biomass thermal energy system. Work conducted included an assessment of current thermal load, selection of preferred on-site location for thermal energy system, review of suitable cost-effective technologies meeting local, state and federal environmental regulations, and preliminary design. In addition TSS generated detailed financial analysis comparing current fuel oil fired system with biomass-fired system.
