Project Title: Sacramento Municipal Utility District Greenhouse Gas Technical Services Program
Client: SMUD (as subcontractor to URS and SAIC)

TSS is a subcontractor to both URS and SAIC, who are principally contractors to SMUD’s Greenhouse Gas Technical Services Program. TSS acts as the expert biomass energy consultant to SMUD in their various greenhouse gas initiatives, as related to renewable energy development projects for SMUD. One of the principal projects recently completed was the technical evaluation of using syngas derived from biomass resources through a gasification system and what greenhouse gas reductions might be realized if the syngas was used to offset the use of natural gas. Several existing and proposed natural gas fired electric generation projects in the SMUD service territory were examined for potential greenhouse gas reduction using this potential biomass-derived syngas substitution.
