Project Title: Westwood Homes Montserrat Fire Hazard Assessment

Recognizing the need for fire prevention in Placer County, Westwood Homes commissioned TSS Consultants to provide a fire hazard assessment to design fuel modifications to change wildfire behavior within the Montserrat property located in Loomis, California. The primary purpose of this work was to quantify the wildfire hazard and provide vegetation management suggestions. The assessment provided a framework for Westwood Homes and the Homeowner’s Association to manage the potential long-term impacts of fire on its 64 single family homes and surrounding 155 acres of conserved green space. TSS utilized a widely recognized fire model (FlamMap) and field parameterized inputs to generate fire behavior data for the entire Montserrat property using a given set of weather conditions available from two local Remote Automated Weather Stations.
