Project Title: USFS Southern California Biomass Disposal and Utilization Assessment

TSS was retained by the University of California (under a USDA Forest Service Grant) to assist in conducting a resource assessment and market/utilization assessment of biomass material (saw logs, cull logs, small trees, fuel and other vegetation) collected as a result of forest fuels reduction and forest restoration efforts in Southern California. The goal of this project was to assist the Southern California counties of San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego in the development of effective programs to manage critical wildfire hazards by providing a quantitative assessment of the near-term supply of biomass raw materials in the area and the market’s capacity to utilize these materials.
